Under consideration
An individual progress assessment, appropriate training support and preparation education could be useful when delivered by properly qualified coaches.
Current boundaries
This site is independent. We do not offer an official Royal Marines course, access to assessors, selection guarantees or paid enrolment at this stage.
What has to exist before coaching is sold
An independent Royal Marines preparation service needs coaches with appropriate documented qualifications and experience, verified insurance, sensible health and safeguarding arrangements, clear delivery terms and suitable facilities. Swimming would require relevant professional oversight. No photo, rank-inspired design or private website domain is proof of those capabilities.
A coherent offer must complement free support
The Royal Navy already publishes training and assessment guidance. A paid coach could eventually add personal feedback, an individual progression discussion and accountable supervision, but the marginal value should be specific and testable. At present this page is an expression of interest, not a product that can be paid for.
What should a paid Royal Marines programme actually deliver?
A subscription with generic workouts differs from a qualified coach who understands your starting point, offers safe progression and arranges appropriate swimming instruction. Before paying, confirm exactly who monitors preparation, how often feedback happens, what professional qualifications and insurance apply and how the service responds when a candidate's circumstances change. The Royal Navy provides official PJFA and CPC information for free. A seller cannot honestly price access to that information as though it were exclusive; the valuable difference must be professional individual support.
A sample of responsible preparation triage
Here is an example of the kind of thinking a credible independent provider would need to offer beyond free official material. No coach, paid offer or result is claimed.
A fictional candidate has three days to organise preparation around work and is unsure about swimming. They think that adding more intense sessions will resolve both the PJFA and CPC questions.
The candidate has mixed two official stages and a specific water-safety issue, with no verified personal instruction or qualified pool supervision.
The useful intervention is to resolve the official stage and obtain competent swimming instruction, not prescribe unsupported test speeds or hazardous water trials.
Prepare questions for the Royal Navy and a supervised swimming professional; document available time and recovery constraints before proposing any personal activity change.
What would justify paying for this?
Verified professional supervision, personalised review and safe technique feedback could be additional value over the Royal Navy's free plans.
Three questions before spending
- Who is the named coach, what are their qualifications, and what is insured?
- Will pool instruction take place with an appropriately qualified supervisor?
- How are the existing Navy plans and changing personal circumstances accounted for?
Out of scope: No simulated military swim tests, medical opinion, invented PJFA thresholds, selection predictions or active paid enrolment.
Prepare a focused prospective enquiry ↗START WITH A USEFUL BRIEF
What would you want a qualified reviewer to improve?
Tell us which preparation gap and Army or Navy stage you are researching. That helps distinguish free official guidance from a potential professionally reviewed service.
Only the selected non-sensitive categories pass to the next page in the URL. No enquiry is sent or saved at this stage. Official joining rules always take priority, and paid enrolment is not open.
Use this before your next step
If you wish to express interest, tell us the stage you are at and the kind of civilian support you have not found elsewhere. Do not submit medical documents, selection records or financial details.
